Mineral makeup was first introduced for the cheeks and eyes. You might have been wondering about your lips. It seemed a shame to use healthy minerals everywhere but your lips. Now, you can include your lips in the mineral makeup line with mineral lip glosses to complement your beautiful lips.
Most mineral cosmetics are in powder form. That begs the question: How do you apply minerals to your lips? You would be correct in thinking that most mineral makeup comes in the form of pressed or loose powder.
Mineral powder can be used on the lips as well as other areas of the face. You can mix different colors to create never-before-seen shades for the cheeks, eyes and even your lips. The natural earth minerals found in these powders are applied to lipsticks and lip glosses to extend their wear.
Mineral lip gloss
Mineral lip gloss is just as soft as traditional lipstick but the ingredients are different. Natural mineral lip glosses contain naturally occurring oils, beeswax, fruit butters and nut butters to create the rich base for the gloss. The natural minerals are also added: mica, titanium oxide, zinc oxide and iron oxides (to provide color).
If you are a vegan who prefers the healthier mineral makeup, you’ll be happy to know that some manufacturers do not use beeswax in their mineral lip glosses. You can still look your best in minerals. Animal testing is not done with mineral lip glosses and no synthetic preservatives are added to the lip gloss.
Choosing a lip gloss
Choose your mineral lip gloss like you would choose a lipstick. The color will complement your skin tone for day wear. This enhances the natural beauty in you just like the rest of your mineral makeup.
For evening wear, you can choose a lip gloss that is as bold as your eye shadow. Clear lip glosses can be mixed with other mineral powders to create new colors. Mineral lip glosses contain the same natural minerals as other mineral powders so they mix together well with only great results. If the colors that are available don’t meet your needs, mixing is another alternative.
Applying mineral lip gloss
You apply mineral lip gloss the same way as you would traditional lip products. Starting with the lower lip, apply the lip gloss in one smooth stroke along the natural lip line. Continue to follow the natural lip line as you proceed to your upper lip. You can use natural or synthetic lip brushes just make sure it is thin enough to do the job.
Mineral powders can be used as lip liners for your mineral gloss. Choose a color that complements your lip gloss but is a little darker. Add a few drops of water and apply to the natural lip line with a lip liner brush before applying your mineral lip gloss.
Use mineral powders wet and apply to lips. Any color you can create can be mixed and covered with clear gloss to add the shine.
Mineral lip gloss doesn’t have the problem of bleeding line traditional lipsticks. Your lips stay moist and beautiful all day.
