There are bunches of good, healthy eating facts out there and it can get incredibly confusing. Bad carbs, good carbs, protein, nutrients…It’s enough to make you want to pull your hair out.
Today, let’s put away the latest calorie counting charts and discuss a tactic that is incredibly easy and is guaranteed to help you lose weight, and eat more healthy. It is truly one of the best healthy eating facts around.
Think about this for a moment… when was the last time you ordered a pizza or picked up dinner from a fast food place?
You know the super deluxe pizza, or the hamburger and fries are bad for you… so, why? Why did you go there?
Of course there will be exceptions, but for most of you – I venture to guess – that you ordered a pizza or went to the fast food place because you didn’t have any good ideas on what to fix for dinner! And they offered an easy solution!
That may indeed be a fact, but not one of the healthy eating facts! True, after a hard day’s work, the last thing we want to do is have to come up with an idea for a meal. It’s even worse when you throw in the healthy, lose weight restrictions. (Tossing a frozen pizza in the oven is no better than having one delivered.)
For an easy solution to the problem, try this. Set aside a couple of hours, schedule them if you must, and plan your dinner menus for each day of the coming week. If you can work up the ambition, go for two weeks.
Write out each meal plan on a separate sheet of paper. Then place them all in a three ring binder. If you really want to get fancy, you could separate the days with pretty multicolored tabs. Somewhere down the line, you will probably want to laminate the pages too.
Now, here’s the important part. Each evening when you get home, open your binder to that day’s menu and make it. We want to make this a habit, so never deviate under any circumstances.
You will totally stop the impulse buying from the local fast food place, save a lot of money, and never have to worry about what to fix for dinner.
This idea may seem too easy, but it works and will save a bundle of cash.
If you could hire a chef to do nothing but plan and prepare your meals, and if you gave them the task of only fixing healthy low-calorie meals, you would expect them to preplan the menus. Not wait until the last minute to fix whatever came to mind. Think of yourself in the same way, plan your meals and don’t change your plans throughout the week.
Right now, it may seem like a boring chore, but once this becomes a habit you will learn to truly love your binder.
If you plan all your meals to be healthy ones, it MUST eventually improve your health. It has to!
When the first week is over, do it all again. Create a new plan for the new week. If you make them all different recipes, by the end of the month you will have an entire month’s worth of unique meals.
Every meal, for four weeks, will be different. This way you will never get tired of eating the same meals over and over again. They will all be tasty, nutritious and low calorie. Once you’ve gotten this far, you can stop your weekly planning and just continuously rotate the recipes in your binder.
I think that’s one of the best healthy eating facts out there, and it will help you save a bundle at the grocery store.
