Thrombosed Hemorrhoid Treatment Options

There are many treatment options for all types of hemorrhoids. Thrombosed hemorrhoids are caused by blood clots. When a blood clot develops in a hemorrhoid it develops a condition called thrombosis. This is an extremely painful condition. This can look really frightening. It will be purple or blue in color. And most of the times the thrombosed hemorrhoid will even bleed. Regardless how bad it looks thrombosed hemorrhoids are really not that bad and usually will go away in about 1 week.

Thrombosed hemorrhoids are extremely painful and sometimes doctors will prescribe pain medication to help with the pain. If it is still unbearable your doctor can remove the thrombosed hemorrhoid. A thrombosed hemorrhoid is the number one cause of anal bleeding. This condition is rarely dangerous but should be looked at by a doctor. Some other serious life threatening conditions can easily be mistaken for hemorrhoids so anytime you have anal bleeding you really need to have it looked at by a doctor.

A person will know when they have a thrombosed hemorrhoid for the fact that the pain will be extremely unbearable. You will have pain when sitting, standing and especially when using the bathroom. Some choose to have it surgically removed. Others let it go away on its own. If you are going to have it removed it’s best to do it with in the first 72 hours. After the 72 hours the procedure will be more painful than the comfort from having it removed. If you choose not to have it removed it will become fibrosed and will resolve it’s self over a few days. In extreme cases it will take a few weeks.

The best way to treat a thrombosed hemorrhoid is not to let it get that bad! Thrombosed hemorrhoids are caused by blood clots developing in the hemorrhoid. At the slightest signs of an inflamed or irritated hemorrhoid you should immediately start treating them.

The best way to treat them is to get the swelling down. By soaking the hemorrhoids 2-3 times a day in warm water you will reduce the swelling. When you reduce the swelling you will get the blood flowing in the veins again eliminating the chances of developing a thrombosis.

Another great way to avoid thrombosed hemorrhoids is to add more fiber in your diet. By adding more fiber in your diet you will soften your bowl movements and won’t strain your self when using the restroom. Eating lots of fruits and vegetables will help to reduce your weight and will increase your fiber intake. Your diet has the biggest role in causing and preventing hemorrhoids. People who eat high fiber diets are less likely to develop hemorrhoid problems. If you eat a diet in high processed foods you can expect to develop major hemorrhoid problems including a thrombosed hemorrhoid.

The more fluids in your intake the better off you’ll be. If you don’t drink enough water it can cause constipation. If you’re constipated your stool is hard and aggravates the already swollen veins causing you to get a thrombosed hemorrhoid. To avoid getting a thrombosed hemorrhoid drink plenty of water and increase your fiber intake this will soften the stool making it easier to get a bowl movement.
