Did you know that only 1 percent of the population has six pack abs? That is why one of the greatest accomplishments for a fitness enthusiast is having that six pack and defined lower abs. It is my belief that anyone can obtain this. They just need to ignore the TV and magazines and follow the simple rules to weight loss and muscle gain.
The first rule is to train your abs like any other muscle. You typically train other muscle with weight and fewer repetitions. Doing 50 crunches a day will not do much for you. You are much better off find a way to increase the resistance and only completing 12 to 15 repetitions. Exercising like this will give you a more cut look. Because you are increasing the intensity, there is no reason to train your abs more than 3 times a week. They will need time to recover.
People also fail to choose fat burning exercises in their routine. And in some cases their program breaks down to 45 minutes of cardiovascular Training and 15 minutes of abs. This, by far, is one of the slowest ways for fat loss. High intensity workouts with 1 – 2 days rest in between is much more efficient. This includes intervals for cardio and compound movements for the major muscle groups. Some of these exercises include squats, push-ups, pull-ups and dead lifts. There are many more, I am only listing a few.
You need to change the amount of calories that you eat daily but overall keep yourself in a calorie deficient zone. By shifting your calorie intake you fool your body into thinking that it eating more than it actually is. This prevents your metabolism from slowing. You also need to stay away from refined sugar and eat plenty of fruits and vegetables. You should also include good fats and quality protein. Make sure that you eat six6 meals a day and drink eight glasses of water.
Make your workouts each and every week more challenging. This can be done by adding resistance, shorter breaks or harder exercises. You need to become stronger, faster and more flexible. If you are not doing this you are going to plateau. Keeping a workout journal and planning for progression is a great way to stay on track.
Stress can cause havoc on the body. Weight gain is just one of the side effects. You need to find way to minimize stress in your life. Meditation is one of the most popular methods along with walking in nature. Sometimes just taking a moment to think about the good things in your life can has good effect on your happiness and stress levels.
Simply follow through on some of these guidelines and incorporate them into your exercise routine. You will be amazed on the results.
