Soya milk, or soymilk, is a drink which is made from Soya beans by soaking them in water and then grinding them to form a stable emulsion. The credit of having discovered this nourishing drink goes to the Chinese who had even mastered the process of converting Soya milk into tofu or bean curd.

It was only a matter of time before the world acknowledged Soya milk for its worth and gradually it became a norm in the society to utilize this variety of milk in place of the traditional cow’s milk. One of the most significant reasons that Soya milk was willingly accepted by individuals was that it did not cause any variety of milk allergy in human beings while offering the same total of nutrients. The other reason was that unlike the dairy milk which comes from an animal, this milk was a derivative of the plant and hence was more readily satisfactory by vegetarians.

Soya milk is looked at to be an ideal substitute for cow’s milk owing to the fact that its nutritional value is extremely similar to that of cow’s milk. While cow’s milk is a natural source of animal proteins in addition to calcium, the protein present in Soya milk is a vegetable protein whereas the calcium is generally added during the commercial production.

In addition, Soya milk contains fatty acids in very little amounts due to which the user is protected against high cholesterol levels.
