Is There Any Natural Remedy for Insomnia?

Are you one of those up to 20% of the Americans, who have sleeping problems, not being able to get asleep or waking during the night? If your answer is Yes, than you should probably pay attention to some of the things people recommend. Some of these people are doctors or experts in related fields, while others are people with insomnia, who tried different methods to beat insomnia and so they found what worked for them. So you can do also, experiment with the different suggested methods and see which one helps you. Following are such tips from different sources for insomnia.

* The bed should be used only for sleeping, and not for other activities, like reading, working, watching TV and so on.

* If just laying in your bad didn\’t make you sleepy, then you can try some very well known methods, like counting the sheep or counting backwards (choose a number sufficiently high to get you asleep) so that your thoughts will be taken of your problems, past or future, and calm your mind in preparation for sleep.

* Breathe deeply for awhile, using the diaphragm.

* You can view in your mind some nice and peaceful place.

* Find a very boring book to read.

* You should have a strict bedtime routine and stick to it.

* Go to bed at the same hours, preferably before 10 p.m.

* Don\’t use caffeinated beverages before sleeping (and we are not speaking only about coffee, but also about any other caffeine rich drink, a black tea or Coca Cola, for example) and stay away from smoking (that is good advice for anybody, with or without insomnia problems).

* Don\’t use alcohol drinks just before bedtime because they will not give a good night sleep, they may wake you up during the night.

* If you, avoid to sleep during the day.

* Wake up at the same time every day, and don\’t sleep longer on weekends.

* Good exercises done outside, in the fresh air, can really help, but don\’t do them just before bedtime.

* Put an illuminated clock, if you are using one, in a place where you can\’t see it.

* A firm mattress, not a fluffy one, is helpful and also open the windows for the air to come in; the temperature shouldn\’t be too high.

* Try using a drink before bedtime: some milk, warmed, or a lime tea. Onions eaten at night are good.

* Massage can relax you and prepare the sleep

* Listen good, relaxing music.

* Earplugs are a good idea if you have a noisy environment.

* Avoid watching stimulating TV programs and reading exciting books before bedtime.

If you still can\’t get rid of the insomnia, maybe it is good to check with your doctor to eliminate other possible health problem (such as depression, anxiety, hyperthyroidism, heart failure, or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease).

Additionally, there is another solution to beat insomnia, as many people have experienced it, one that is natural, doesn\’t create dependency and gives you rapid results.
