How can we have our mind and our body relaxed and also be functional in our work places? It seems that the best idea to have both of these things is by practicing yoga. Even busy people can find some spare time to forget about their daily responsibilities and discover the good aspects yoga can have. All we need to do is to schedule the yoga sessions we want to cover a day and also to stick to our determination of practicing this kind of meditation.

The ones who have stressful jobs have a reason more to turn to yoga practices, as yoga improves their existence. A full day at work, with many issues to be solved and many deadlines can be really disturbing for us, but the answer to these problems lays in the ways we choose to deal with them. Due to the internal peace, many people consider yoga as being more relaxing and more efficient than partying or reading a book, even sleeping.

For some it could come as a surprise that the breathing is the most important in practicing yoga. As the breathing includes both the inhaling and the exhaling, we should know how to do it right. It is important for the air to be inhaled for a period of several seconds. The air is kept inside for the same number of seconds and then slowly exhaled. Performing a good breathing allows us to control better the circulation of the blood, as it brings fresh oxygen into our body. Also, it has an important role for the respiratory tract as it cleanses it and eliminates the toxins from the inside.

If we are determined to start practicing yoga, then we should plan each session. By doing so, we prove our seriousness for this matter. The best moments to practice yoga are probably the beginning and the end of the day. In the morning, this session helps you in filling your body with energy and in the evening it has the role of preparing it for a good sleep. During the work hours, we could also practice yoga to regain our vitality.

Yoga practicing requires an appropriate environment with suitable acoustics. A good music can provide the right atmosphere for our mind to begin wandering. We could also listen to nature, meaning birds singing, rain falling or waterfalls. Specialized people to guide us in yoga practices may be met in yoga course.

Reincarnation centers on the belief that we may have lived previous lives in the past. This belief is quickly becoming accepted and explored by people from various walks of life. Why so? It is because we now know that the secrets to being successful in our current life deals with knowing what happened in a past life.

If you have ever thought ‘Who was I in my past life?’ you are not alone. Past life regression holds the key to the answers of our past, presents and future.

Past life regression deals with the belief that all are eternal souls that have been reincarnated and each time our physical bodies pass away. As eternal beings, we carry forward every lesson that we have learned, experienced, and desired from one lifetime into the very next one.

It is commonly believed that through each rebirth humans choose a current mission and/or purpose for living. Through exploring answers of what happened in my past life, it becomes possible to understand why we exist here in the modern world. This allows us to avoid venturing into the next life with painful and problematic baggage.

Finding the purpose behind ‘What did I face in my past life’ will help to heal old wounds, lead to success in the present; guide you into making the right career choices, aid in forming relationships with friends and partners and will give you a deeper sense of self in all that you do.

A number of successful and accepted methods of unlocking the truth of our previous lives can be explored. Hypnosis is a tremendous means of finding out about prior lives. The process puts people into altered mental states which make unlocking the past easier. This is because the relaxed state can dig out those memories.

A well trained past life regression expert brings the proper professional insight needed to guide people into access their repressed memories. They can also help us deal with the emotions that might come up during such a past life regression session.

Self-hypnosis and visualization have also greatly been employed to access the great memories of ‘Who was I in my past life.’ Sometimes finding a quiet, private space with the desire to focus on clearing the mind can open scores of doors for discovering one’s past life. Have you thought of leaving a notebook beside your bed and writing down any dreams you have? Repressed memories are known to play out in the dream stage. Upon reviewing some of the more vivid and realistic scenes from the past, it becomes possible to focus on thoughts, images, and feelings that were written down. This will greatly help you unlock all the significance behind the various scenes deriving from the past.

Look at any patterns that emerge when recording your dreams or meditating, they may be signaling past life memories you have not yet dealt with. Though you may consciously want to retrieve knowledge about ‘Who was I during my past life’ some individuals have an irrational fear that their past might be filled with sins or evil deeds and unconsciously bury the memories.

Most of the fears people feel are not well founded. Instead of taking such an approach it is best to just allow the mind to naturally wander. Cease with all the mental blocks and accept what is revealed in the mind. Seek the questions behind what you did in a past life and do so by taking stock of the characteristics that define your being.

Make comprehensive lists of your fears, talents, physical characteristics, attractions, repulsions, and even your favorite foods. The fascination with a time period from prior eras or even obsessions or desires can open a door to the subconscious mind.

Telepathy is the direct transfer of thoughts, emotions, or feelings from one person to another person using only the power of the mind.

The telepathic ability is one that all humans possess to some degree, but have lost the means by which to control it on a conscious level. We all experience moments of telepathic activity subconsciously from time to time. Imagine being able to control that innate ability and use it to communicate.

There is still a large amount of skepticism surrounding the use of mind powers of any degree but consider this: how many times have you been in a great mood only to meet a person who is gloomy and depressed. Within just a few minutes of talking with the miserable person, your own mood starts to reflect the same thing.

Its not what they were saying to you; not with their mouths, anyway. What has happened here is that you were telepathically receiving their emotions and feelings.

Scientific studies have shown that by accessing the sub-conscious centre of your mind and learning to focus your thoughts and feelings toward a specific person, it is possible to re-awaken the dormant telepathic abilities.

All forms of communication have to be learned; you werent born knowing how to speak your native language, it is something you learned by observing and imitating your family.

Of course, your parents probably never taught you to use your telepathic abilities, but this does not mean that you cannot use them. All it means is that you have not yet been taught how.

Here are some methods which can help you to develop your inherent telepathic abilities.

Mental-Muscle training

Just as we have to learn how to control our vocal chords as children to form speech, your telepathic muscles will also need some training.

It is easiest to access the part of your brain which controls telepathic function when you are in a trance state. You can reach this state of deep relaxation by using relaxation techniques including meditation.

You have to practice until it is easy for you to reach this state. Once you have managed to do this, you have started training your mind to use telepathy.

Focus

It does take some practice to maintain your focus while in the deep relaxation of a trance state. Focus on someone who you want to telepathically communicate with as you relax and stay focused as you slip into a trance state.

Imagine this person and project happy thoughts. Visualize the person receiving your happy thoughts and feelings. Maintain your focus for as long as you think it takes the person to feel the connection between you.

Then, break off the focus. You need to break the telepathic link so that they can feel this communication being cut off and start trying to contact you with their mind.

You should begin practicing like this individually so that when you start training with a partner you will have already laid the necessary groundwork to send and receive these mental transmissions.

Partner Practice

One of you should be the sender, the other the receiver. Start by sending simple thoughts, such as bright colors which will be readily recognized.

The receiver should be prepared with pad and pen to record any and all impressions and thoughts that come to mind.

At the end of each practice session, compare notes and see how many images and impressions are correct. The more practice you get, the more accurate your image reception will become.

by Rachel Hansen-Winther

You’ve been to some yoga classes and maybe also have done some workshops, and now you want to get more serious about your yoga practice. The decision is made, for your next vacation, you are going away on a yoga course. Here are some answers to a few questions you might ask yourself.

Yoga retreat or yoga vacation?

While the difference between yoga vacations and yoga retreats is not always plain, on occasion, even the organizers have not thought enough about how to perfectly name their course), there is quite a differentiation in terms of focus point and general ambiance or environment.

Generally speaking, a yoga holiday is primarily an activity holiday. The time dedicated daily to yoga usually won’t exceed four hours, in one, or maybe two daily classes, and you will have plenty time for other activities or just to unwind and chill out.

The location should show this, with a beach or other notable attractions nearby.

The environment is often peaceful, and it is usually a opportunity to come across other like-minded people. On a retreat, in contrast, the yoga agenda is likely to be more intense, possibly together with some meditation, times of silence, etc.

The prime focus is no longer to enjoy yourself on holiday, but to deepen your yoga practice. Again, the choice of location should reflect this, with a quiet, possibly remote location. Retreats should be fully residential, the food vegetarian, and meal times cautiously thought out to fit easily within the daily yoga practice. You will find more ‘hard core’ yogis and yoginis on retreats, and the overall atmosphere can be quite serious, with much less ‘free’ time.

Unless you are quite certain that yoga is your thing, and want to move your practice to the next level, a yoga holiday rather than a yoga retreat may be the best choice for your first time doing yoga away from home.

Go alone, or bring a friend?

Going on your own is not a catch. In fact, the vast majority of people going on yoga course go unaccompanied. The hitch to going on your own is that you might have to share a room with one or more absolute strangers, but at least, you will know that, like you, they have a keen interest in yoga, and great friendships are frequently formed on yoga courses.

If you decide not to go on your own, pick your companion(s) cautiously. A few yoga centres will approve of guests who don’t do yoga, but most often, and absolutely in the case of a retreat, yoga should be a shared interest with your prospective travel companion, so if you don’t want to go alone, a yoga buddy is a far better choice than your new boyfriend (unless, of course, you met him on a yoga weekend!)

Where and when to go?

The yoga holiday market is now becoming increasingly competitive, and main stream travel agents are moving in, sometimes with disastrous results. Unlike yoga teachers and dedicated venues, they do not always understand the particular requirements of what is still very much a niche market.

Complaints about such new comers to the yoga holiday market, who often have operated successfully in other branches of the tourist trade such as the organization of seminars or other types of package vacations, are their lack of understanding of the specificity of the yoga market, particularly in relation to diet (vegetarian and vegan options are not always available) and the unsuitability of the venues chosen, which are often large, soulless resorts, sometimes shared with a crowd of rowdy drunks (as happened to me in Goa a few years ago).

All this is not very conducive to peace of mind, so it is best to avoid large operators and stick with small, dedicated venues. There are a lot of them to choose from all over the world, and new ones are sprouting up everywhere so there’s a large choice of destinations at any time of the year!

Sun destinations such as Greece, Spain, Portugal, Turkey, Italy, and the south of France tend to be most popular in the European summer while in the winter; India, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Mexico and the Caribbean tend to be favorites. There are also a number of other locations which don’t emphasize the ‘sun’ part including Scotland, various parts of England, Ireland, Finland, Canada, Austria to name just a few.

See for example the Yoga Centres listing of the Yogaholidays.net site. Even thought they might not be right up on the beach, these venues are chosen for their quietness and are far more suited to the practice of yoga than large tourist resorts.

What style, what teacher?

Perhaps more important than the location is the teacher and the style of yoga. Remember you will be stuck with your choice for the duration of the course, so a bit of thinking may be in order.

The best, of course, is to choose a teacher you have already studied with, perhaps in the context of weekly classes or a short workshop. Second best, is to get an opinion from someone who has been on a holiday/retreat with a particular teacher before. If this is not possible, you might find some useful information on the Internet, as most established teachers now have websites.

This should at least give you an idea of who they are and of whether their style of teaching (and style of yoga) will suit you. If nothing else, don’t be afraid to ask the teacher such questions as who they studied with, how long they have been practicing and how long they have been teaching yoga. Try to ring rather than email, as you’ll get a far better idea over the phone.

Tell the teacher about your yoga knowledge, how fit you are and what you expect to gain from the retreat so they can advise you properly on suitability. Usually they don’t want to be stuck with the wrong student any more that you want to be stuck with the wrong teacher, so they will advise you honestly. It is also recommended to try the style of yoga that will be taught as part of the holiday/retreat by taking a few classes in your area, just to be sure that it will suit you, before booking.

What to bring?

Check whether you’ll need a yoga mat (if you have your own, it best to bring it anyway). Bring some reading, yogic or not, and don’t forget your practice clothes!

Have a great retreat!

Relaxation strategies often can help people get rid of the strain and strain in their lives that also account for sleep issues letting them get a good night’s sleep.

Yoga is a popular strategy for relaxation and will also have similar effects like acupuncture. In another study, participants were subjected to many minutes of mental stress. Then they were put through various relaxation strategies, such as listening to nature sounds or classical music.

Only those who did Yoga noticeably reduced the time it took for their blood pressures to go back to normal. Yoga is a form of progressive relaxation.

Respiring is one of the simplest techniques to chill. Breathing influences pretty much all aspects of us, it affects our mind, our moods and our body.

Simply target your breathing, after some time you can feel its effects right away.

There are many respiring methodologies that will help you lower stress.

Another easy way to achieve relaxation is exercise. If you are feeling irritated an easy half-hour of exercise will most likely settle things down. Though exercise is a great way to lose pounds, it does not show you the simplest way to manage stress reasonably. Exercise should also be used with other exercise programmes.

One good way of relaxing is getting a therapeutic massage with natural aromatherapy essential oils, this is becoming a favourite way to unwind.

To gain full relaxation, you want to fully surrender to the handling and touch of a pro therapist as the warm essential oils are massaged into your body.

There are a few sorts of massages that also give different levels of relaxation..allowing the warm oils to penetrate your skin delivering absolute relaxation.

Another method of relaxation is Biofeedback. The usual biofeedback-training program encompasses a 10-hour sessions that’s often spaced 7 days apart.

Hypnosis is one controversial relaxation methodology. It’s a good alternative for folk who think that they haven’t any idea what it feels like to be relaxed. It is also a good alternative for folk with stress related health Problems.

These relaxation systems are just some of the strategies you can do relaxation. Another excuse why we want to relax, apart from lowering blood pressure in folks and decreasing the chances of a stroke or a coronary, is perhaps because stress produces hormones that suppress the immune system, relaxation gives the immunological reaction time to recover and in doing so function more effectively.

Relaxation reduces the activities in the brains’ limbic system ; this is the emotional middle of our brain.

Additionally, the brain has a regular need for a more told activity on the right-hemisphere. Relaxation is one technique of achieving this.

Relaxation can really be of good use once a relaxation system is continually built into your lifestyle. Choose a method that you believe you can do continually.

So, over to you, make a point of visiting your local beauty centre..and relax!

OM, LOGOS And The WORD

Everything in the universe originates from a primal vibration, in Christianity called the WORD. In Hinduism this concept is called OM. OM and the WORD are an expression of a universal principle, a vibration, a primordial sound which is the source of everything that exists.

The same thing is described by Pythagoras in his philosophical idea about the Music of the Spheres, where the physical sound that we can hear is seen just as a reflection of the cosmic sound, in Greek called Logos.

About Christianity And The Word

The power of the word is immense in the Christian tradition. By uttering words God creates the whole universe. “God said: Let there be light. And light came” (1st book of Moses). God says words and manifestation springs forth.

These words symbolize a form of word that come from a higher reality, in our reality called a word. The symbolism is clear and can be seen in many different spiritual traditions. Reality springs forth from a vibration or sound.

The Atom And OM

Thought the Upanishads from ancient India and modern physics are completely different in terminology and in the organization of knowledge there are some striking similarities. Both support the idea that OM is the original cosmic vibration or that the universe has its seat in vibration.

When we dive into the atom we discover that all matter is in a state of vibration. That vibrations come close to our perception of sound in its poetical quality of music, is expressed by the physicist Dr. Donald Hatch, who states that the universe is not made of matter, but music gives a modern equivalent to the idea of OM as the sound of creation.

Sound And Matter

Matter is in fact completely illusory, all matter being made up of atoms which themselves are separated by vast distances compared with their size. Atoms are not solid but are made up of vibrating energy in movement.

In the vision of Donald Andrews the atoms emit a main tone. Atoms join in clusters of atoms to form molecules or “cosmic chords” as he calls them. All matter can be seen as complex chords. The universe is in fact a giant symphony of vibration.

OM And Everyday Life

The creation myths might in fact also be describing the process of creation which continually happens within us. All our thoughts, feelings and emotions create their own chords which crystallize in the complex chords of our personalities and being. Our main aim would then be to make this a harmonious chord which sounds beautifully and harmonically with the chord of the universe. Only then can we be truly happy when we are in true “harmony” with the universe.

Matter is created by cosmic sound, Matter is cosmic sound. Matter is OM, crystallized and made physical. The universe, the earth and we only exist because the Word is continuously brought forth. Remove the Word, and only the pure empty space ” ananda (the creative void as described by the ancient yogis of India) – will be left. This is the original state of the universe before the creation.

OM And Spiritual Practice

For an advanced practitioner of Yoga, OM is as real as the air that he breaths. Christian mystics have long known of the power of the WORD inside and around them and felt the ongoing emanation of the WORD in the continual creation processes around them.

Seen in this way we are all co-creators of the manifestation in each and every minute, by sending out the Word in the form of thoughts, wishes, emotions and speech. We make our own symphony and we are responsible to make this symphony harmonize with the cosmic symphony!

So be ever mindful of all your thoughts, emotions and actions because the universe hears you and responds!

OM And LOGOS

The primal vibration from which everything originates is in Christianity called the WORD. The equivalent in Hinduism is the mantra (sound word) OM. The word and OM express a universal principal, a cosmic vibration (sound) which symbolises the source of everything in existence.

The same thing is described by Pythagoras in his philosophical idea about the Music of the Spheres, where the physical sound that we can hear is seen just as a reflection of the cosmic sound, in Greek called Logos.

About Christianity And The Word

The Christian tradition speaks of the power of the word. God speaks words and creates universes. “God said: Let there be light. And light came” (book of Moses). God utters words and the universe is created.

These words symbolize a form of word that come from a higher reality, in our reality called a word. The symbolism is clear and can be seen in many different spiritual traditions. Reality springs forth from a vibration or sound.

OM and ATOM

Modern physics and the upanishads from India may at first glance seem very different but both support the idea of the universe consisting of vibration and that there exists a kind of primordial vibration.

Upon closer inspection of the atom we find that all matter vibrates. Vibration and music are poetically linked in the words of physicist Dr. Donald Hatch: “The universe is not made of matter, but music”.

Sound And Matter

We know that the solidity of matter is an illusion and that all matter consists of atoms, separated in enormous distances compared to their size. And that the atoms themselves are not at all solid, but consist of energy in movement.

According to the scientist Donald Andrews complex theory of the universe, every atom sends out a main tone, a sound which via the resonance process connects itself in groups of equivalent atoms and form up molecules, which he sees as a kind of cosmic chords. By continuing the expansion, the molecules form different objects and forms in physical manifestation. Thereby any object can be seen as a living entity, made up by chords or molecules, with each their individual complex sound.

OM And Our Everyday Life

The creation myths might not only be the story of how the world once was created, but could also be a symbolic description about the process of creation that is ongoing, and which each one of us is a part of. It is the creation and maintenance of each and every little atom and the realities we are creating with our minds and emotions. And it is going on right now, not in the eternal remote past! If we manage to be in accordance with life, we will be harmonious and happy.

Matter comes out of vibration. Matter is vibration. Matter is OM which crystallizes into our physical reality. The universe exists only through the continual emanation of the WORD. Without the WORD there would be but pure empty space which the ancient yogis of India term as “ANANDA”. This is the original state of the universe before it came into creation.

OM As A Spiritual Practice

Advanced practitioners of Yoga have always felt OM as real as the air that they breath. Christian mystics have long know of power of the WORD in themselves and the outside universe. They feel at a deep level the continual emanating of the word OM in the continual creation processes taking place.

We have to understand that we are all co creators of the universe through the continual creation of our own WORDS or Music, continually bringing into manifestation through our thoughts, longings, desires and speech. We alone can choose whether our symphony is in harmony or not with the cosmic symphony.

So be ever mindful of what you send out because the universe hears your song!

We are the authors of our own universe, all our thoughts and emotions coming together in a complex symphony which either sounds harmoniously with the cosmic symphony or creates noise and tension. The choice is ours, whether we choose to play disharmonious music or whether we wish to join creation harmoniously adding our own beautiful song.

Running is a great exercise that can help burn extra calories and get your body into perfect shape. The difficulty is that running can be very hard on the body. Doing yoga can be a great thing to help to keep your body in balance, stop injury, help you to be more mindful of yourself and your body’s wishes, and help you relax after a tough run.

Running can be superb for keeping in shape, and coupling it with the strength and toning exercises and stretches yoga offers can do much more . Running burns calories to help you keep fit, but yoga can help you to keep those muscles limber instead of tight after a hard run. Yoga helps to strengthen muscles that won’t be getting the benefit from your running too.

Yoga is a great strength training exercise, but it is also relaxing. Running is a particularly strenuous activity which requires staying power. The body naturally produces agony killers that can make a runner ignorant of the injury they are causing their body. By stopping to do yoga, relaxing, and taking it slow, you will become more aware of these types of injuries and help stop them, or take care from making them worse.

Yoga helps to keep a runner limber, making it easier to run further with less likelihood of injury. By stretching the muscles thoroughly, you are helping to strengthen and protect them so they’re going to do better during your run. Yoga also helps to boost your oxygen intake thanks to the deep respiring used in yoga. The rise in oxygen can help to provide better breathing during a run, helping the runner go farther and control breathing while getting optimum oxygen to their muscles.

Runners should combine their standard running schedule with a yoga routine daily to keep the body in balance, keep the body limber, increase oxygen intake, and help them to attain a feeling of relaxation after a long run. The mixture will maximise the advantages of each, helping them work together in perfect harmony.

When you mix the strengthening and increasing power of yoga and use it along with your running regimen, you are bound to see good results. For a body that’s powerful, lean, injury free, and has the capacity for maximum oxygen intake, let yoga guide you and help you meet all your running wants.

Runners – Looking to find a great way to cross train and improve flexibility, strength and stamina while giving your joints a rest? The Runner’s Yoga program may be your perfect solution. Yoga for runners is a powerful activity that will increase your fitness and overall health in a way very different from running.
