Effective Ways to Get Relief for Sciatic Pain

December 6th, 2009 · Comments Off

The sciatic nerve is the longest and widest single nerve in the human body. It runs not so aimlessly from the base of the spine and ends in both feet with a gigantic fall. Knowing this certainly helps one understand how sciatica pain works. Indeed, it follows the exact same path as the sciatic nerve with pain stretching right to the feet. The Sciatic Nerve is the largest nerve in your body (about as big as your thumb). There are many nerves that travel from the lumbar spine and come together to form the Sciatic Nerve. This nerve travels through the pelvis and into both legs branching off into smaller nerves as it travels all the way down to the toes. It allows the muscles of the legs to contract and for the legs to move in order to make us walk or run.
